Will To Live is a Houston based band that combines the musical intensity of Punk Hardcore with a touch of the brutality of metal, while maintaining the sincerity and reality of Punk Hardcore ideals. As most Hardcore bands, Will To Live makes their point live. Their music is comprised of intense fast parts that build up energy only to culminate it in pounding breakdown sections with riffs that result in a dancing frenzy of swinging fists and high kicks in the dance floor. Will To Live's music is also filled with sing-a-long parts that end up in piles of people trying to sing on the main microphone along with the band. Such crowd and band bonding brings back that feeling of unity that sets apart Hardcore from other kinds of music. Bringing this feeling back is without a doubt what Will To Live is most credited for by most people involved in the Texas scene, as before Will To Live, Hardcore and its ideals had become all but extinct in Texas. As far as the lyrics are concerned, Will To Live believes that any talented band can make good appealing music; however, only a real band can make its music a vehicle to express their views beyond the emotions of music. Their lyrics deal with exposing their views on problematic human issues from a constructive view point. The topics are mostly reflections on human behavior and how humans deal with themselves and the world that surrounds them. But most of all, the message Will To Live stands behind is one of empowering the individual and stating that the human will is capable of overcoming any obstacle aside from death. Will to Live is about realizing that although the world is a place filled with problems, we alone hold the key to the destiny of our lives. It's about realizing that there are already too many victims in the world and that it is up to us to make things happen . . . all we have to do is believe that we can.

Will To live got together as Scarred For Life in September/October 1997. Basically Scott Douglas (ex-Objection) and Robert Galdamez had been hanging out all summer and complaining that there just weren't any bands in Houston that played the kind of Hardcore they wanted to hear. Robert complained that there was no old school feel anymore, and Scott complained that there wasn't enough heaviness. So, in a time no one believed Houston could have a Hardcore scene, they set out to start a band that would meet both worlds. Their first real line up was Robert on vocals, Scott on guitars, Bill Ferguson (an old friend of Robert) on bass, Tim Williams on drums, and Jerome Hoofnagle from Houston's finest death metal band "Deep" filling in as 2nd guitar until the newly formed band found a permanent replacement. In late January of 1998, Will To Live (then called Scarred for life) recorded a demo that changed the face of Houston Hardcore for the years to come. A month later, Bill had to relocate and was replaced by seasoned veteran Danny Perez (ex-Refuse To Fall). This line up was kept until mid summer when Michael Crumpler, an old friend of Robert, joined as 2nd guitar. The band played a few shows with this line up including shows with Hatebreed, Madball, Ensign, Earth Crisis, Indecision, etc. On September 4th 1998, the guys decided to change their name from Scarred For Life to Will to Live, and started looking for a drummer because Tim also had to leave the band as he relocated for college. In January 1999, Jose Lopez, an old friend and former band mate of Robert, decided to relocate to Houston to drum for Will To Live. Shortly thereafter, the band parted ways with Scott and decided to remain as a four piece. In September 1999, Will To Live recorded the follow up to their 1st demo and debuted it in a successful show with Snapcase and Buried Alive 11/9/99. In the following months, Will To Live played a number of successful festivals in Houston, San Antonio and Laredo, seeing their vision of an unified Texas scene finally taking place. Having played with some of today's most important Hardcore bands and enjoying an ever growing loyal following across Texas and Mexico, Will to Live looks ahead to the future with intentions to spread their music and their message where ever possible.
